SOLLY SET TO ROAR IN MASCOT GRAND NATIONAL

Special Olympics Leicester mascot to take on rivals

Solly the Lion, official mascot for GB Special Olympics 2009 Leicester, will be the pride of the city on Sunday when he takes on his fellow mascots in the annual Mascot Grand National.

Taking place in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, the one furlong dash will see Solly pit his paws against the likes of Sheffield United F.C.'s Captain Blade and Tadworth the Hound from The Children's Trust in a bid to become the quickest mascot in the country.

Steve Humphries, Special Olympics Games Director, said: “I am sure I speak for the whole of Leicester when I wish Solly the best of luck in the Mascot Grand National! The event is for a great cause and I am pleased that the Special Olympics Leicester Games can be part of this.”

You can support Solly by making your way to The Mascot Grand National. Tickets are available from £8 with under 16s allowed in for free. All proceeds go to the Willow Foundation.
