On Saturday 18th April North Staffordshire Special Olympics held its fourth Fundraiser to help raise funds to send a very strong team to compete in the games of 80 athletes, Head Coaches, Coaches and Escorts to help during the week. In total it will be the biggest part of the West Midlands Team, being a total of 101 People, who will compete in their chosen sport, which could be Football, Swimming, Athletics, Basketball, Kayaking or Badminton.
The event featured a live performance from Matt Shaw aka Meat Loaf, Matt won the Stars in Your Eyes Final in 2000 and an auction was held by Paralympics Athletes Lee Pearson MBE, OBE, CBE and Dame Tanni Grey Thompson, a 10 Downing Street Pen kindly donated by Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister and also a Emma Bridgewater Pottery Teapot Set.
The event raised a fantastic £880.00 which will help the Team from North Staffordshire Special Olympics attend the Special Olympics National Summer Games in Leicester.
