Paul Nixon And The Special Olympics Leicester 2009 Team Visit Leicester College
Special Olympics Leicester 2009 (SOL) team will be hosting the final community roadshow from the first series at Leicester College Freeman's Park Campus on Tuesday 2nd December from 12.30-1.30pm and 1.30-2.30pm, with Leicestershire CCC Captain and SOL Ambassador Paul Nixon in attendance.
The SOL roadshows provide the latest information to local communities about the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games and how to get involved in the Games next year from signing up as a volunteer, hosting a SOL event and becoming a SOL supporter for the Games which take place from the 25th to the 31st July in Leicester next year.
Paul Nixon, former England one-day international wicket-keeper and current Leicestershire CCC captain, will be present alongside members from the Special Olympics Games Organising Committee. They will give people from Leicester the background to Special Olympics and an overview of the events and activities taking place during the Games week.
Roadshow attendees will also be given the opportunity to ask questions about the Games and understand more about the role of a Special Olympics volunteer. Activities will give local people the opportunity to understand the role they can play in supporting the athletes, their families and putting on a fantastic event.
