Monday 8th June 2009
Year 10 Students took part in an “Enterprise day” challenge run by Young Enterprise Leicestershire On Wednesday 3rd June and again on Wednesday 10th June. Students taking part in the challenge were divided into companies and spent two days in teams developing, researching, designing, costing and promoting a product themed on Special Olympics Leicester 2009.
In the promotional materials based companies, students were given information about a specific target market that their product had to be suitable for, and a budget that they would have to work within. This often meant they had to change their ideas and approaches.
The winning teams from each class went onto a grand final in which they were judged not only on their product but more importantly the process they went through as well as the quality of their teamwork. There was great competition, not only amongst the companies but also the teachers! The standards were high and we clearly have some impressive, budding entrepreneurs at Robert Smyth School.
Solly the Lion mascot and organisers from the Special Olympics Leicester and will be judging the creations from this week’s events.
