Introduction to the Sport
 
Each day different athletes will come from their day centres to participate in their chosen two events.  Athletes and Coaches will register at the desk located by the entrance door.  There will be a parade of athletes before the start of the events, at this point’ one of the athletes will say the Special Olympics Oath and another will light the torch.  Coaches will accompany their athlete to the stage where the athlete will do their chosen event and be given the appropriate support.
 
At the end of the athlete’s event there will be a medal ceremony presentation and at the end of the day there will be a closing ceremony.  Coaches will accompany their athletes to the medal podium.

Car Parking
 
Athletes/Coaches:  From their drop off point in the car park, athletes and coaches will proceed into the venue via the main entrance at the front of the venue.  This is a very short walk, the surface is even and there will be no other traffic in this area at this time.
Officials: Officials will enter the venue via the main entrance at the front of the venue.
Families: Most family members are expected to arrive at the venue by car.  On arrival at the main entrance, families will be directed to the Townsend Suite or spectator seating.
Spectators: There is no parking for members of the public at the venue and therefore they will arrive at the venue either on foot or by public transport.  On arrival at the main entrance spectators will be directed to the main sports hall building.
Honoured Guests: From their designated drop off point, guests will enter the venue through the main entrance.
Media: From their designated parking bays media will be directed to the main entrance.
Volunteers: From their arrival point all volunteers will enter via the main entrance at the front of the building.
 
Catering
 
No on-site catering, except for a range of vending machines located within the centre, selling a range of hot and cold drinks, crisps, chocolate etc will be available.
 
Equipment/Uniform
 
Although equipment for the events will be at the venue, coaches should stipulate that their athletes requires to achieve the event chosen with e.g. a particular ball, that has been used in training, then please state on the form that the athlete is bringing that particular ball to the event.
 
List of Events
 
Most of the events will be in the programme.  Log Roll, Ball Kick, Ball Lift, Forward Roll, Walking, Beanbag Lift, Uni-Hoc, Bat and Ball Hit, 10 Pin Bowling, Wide Beam and Bench Wheelchair Propel.
